After all, the original BotW released in 2017, so it was barely 2-years-old at the time of Breath of the Wild 2’s announcement. Information since then has been sparse as well, with the real only concrete information being that the original’s map is being re-used. There are rumors on how that map is going to change, whether Zelda is going to be playable or not, and much, much more, but as far as concrete information goes, there’s still next to nothing....

What the mock-up does is rotate A Link to the Past’s map 45 degrees clockwise, pointing Zora’s Domain to the east and the Gerudo Highlands to the west. The resulting map isn’t a perfect match with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s map, but there are aspects of it that aren’t easy to ignore. Specifically, the way Lake Hylia sits directly to the south of Hyrule Castle, with a meandering river moving up and around the castle to the north....

Known as Version 1.1.1, the developer has released the update with text that says nothing more than “adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience.” Setting aside the obvious fact that this is incredibly vague, players are now reporting that the frame rate post-update has improved across both Wii U and Switch versions of the Breath of the Wild. Some players that have invested significant time into completing the latest Zelda have voiced their displeasure for the patch coming out so late, but the end result will only better the experience for those that are still actively seeking Korok Seeds and the like....

Considered one of The Legend of Zelda series’ most frustrating enemies, Lizalfos’ Breath of the Wild incarnations are particularly infuriating, able to camouflage into surroundings and often imbued with fire, ice, or electrical powers. Torje was livetreaming at the time he set the new record, so his gameplay, reaction, and excitement is available for gamers to rewatch. The speedrun video, which can be seen below, shows Torje casually moving through the first half of the game before gaining momentum at the end and setting the new record. Interestingly, Torje was a second or so behind the previous speedrun record during most of his attempt....

In the E3 2021 trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, then still referred to as the sequel to Breath of the Wild, Link’s arm is shown to glow bright green during a cinematic. Gameplay from that trailer, and in the new title reveal trailer, didn’t provide much in terms of other information, however. Link swirled in green magic when using certain abilities, but his arm was kept suspiciously hidden....

It’s surely going to be interesting to see how Nintendo pulls off a sequel to a game that was as groundbreaking as Breath of the Wild. It seems that the game’s graphics and engine will be similar to that of its predecessor, but it is unknown how mechanic changes in the sequel will be handled; perhaps they’ll be completely revamped or simply remain the same.
