A recent interview posted on Nintendo’s website featured a few insights from some of the designers of the first game. Translations of the interview have been making their way online, and according to them, one of the chief priorities is to take an open-world formula that many consider perfect and make it even better.

Those terrain designers will help Nintendo with revamping the open world from the original Breath of the Wild. Breath of the Wild 2 will be reusing the same map, which, besides saving resources, is being done out of a desire to explore its version of Hyrule to the fullest with new story and gameplay. This may also have to do with the fact that the sequel, according to Nintendo’s designers, was born out of ideas for expanding the first game.

When that new game will finally arrive remains one of the most pressing questions in gaming today, and unfortunately, the designers didn’t offer any hint as to when it will be answered. For the time being, fans will have to continue contenting themselves with mulling over the teases that have been given so far, like the reveal of what’s most likely Ganondorf, or the possibility of co-op and a playable Zelda.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is in development for the Nintendo Switch.
