One of Breath of the Wild’s greatest strengths lies in the freedom of gameplay that allows players to experiment and come up with their own means of reaching destinations, defeating enemies, solving puzzles, and acquiring items. In recent years, players have taken this a step further through the use of glitches, some of which have provided helpful benefits like unlocking the Master Sword early or removing Calamity Ganon from the final boss fight.

Arguably the most interesting of these is the Inventory Slot Transfer. It’s a somewhat complicated process, but the gist is this exploit involves glitching out inventory slots to allow players to transfer items to another save file. This makes it possible for players to perform tricks like accessing the end-game Bow of Light early or duplicating key items without having to farm for them. But as shared by YouTube channel Gaming Reinvented, a well-known source of Breath of the Wild exploits, this technique is also capable of providing players with all the crafting materials they could ever need.

According to the video above, this process for duplicating items in Breath of the Wild begins with starting a new save and making sure Link has no armor. Next, players will want to place the item they want duplicated in the first inventory slot, equip a shield, save, and then switch over to their main save file. From there, they must use Inventory Slot Transfer to glitch out the slots, return to the new file, and get to an autosave spot without opening the menu. Once the game autosaves, they must open the menu, drop the item they want cloned, and then load back to the autosave. If done correctly, once they load back in, players should have 999 of the glitched item.

That can certainly go a long way towards cutting down on the grind when it comes to gathering the rare materials needed to unlock several of Breath of the Wild’s most powerful weapons and upgrades. With that in mind, Gaming Reinvented warned that players will need to glitch enough inventory slots to transfer their key items, a shield, and their food in addition to the items they want duplicated.
