One intriguing new entry comes from 3D artist Hoolopee, who decided to take a brand new look at one of Faces of Evil’s most notorious characters in a whole new medium. Considering the artist’s other recent works with making surreal and haunting videos on their YouTube channel, the results of diving into Legend of Zelda is equally disturbing.

This newest piece of fan art took the character Morshu, a merchant in Faces of Evil, and recreated the design in blender, complete with the same animations found in the CD-i title. The result is a quality addition to the list of horrifyingly rendered characters that awkwardly make the transition from its original 2D design to a perfectly accurate 3D recreation. All of the overexaggerated characteristics of Morshu are brought strikingly to life and dive deep into the Uncanny Valley that even Breath of the Wild 2’s dehydrated Ganondorf doesn’t dip into.
As far as the animations of Morshu goes, it matches almost perfectly, with Hoolopee even including a side-by-side comparison for fans to see the exact level of detail that went into this 3D creation. Naturally, the over-the-top animations of the CD-i Zelda games, which have already been shared among fans as memes for some time, translates into an insane mash of movement when rendered with Blender. So, of course that likely means that this creation is meeting up to the exact expectations that Hoolopee had when attempting to add to the Legend of Zelda franchise with their own style.
This short clip of Morshu might be exactly the type of thing to get filed as a cursed image by the internet, along with most of what came with the meme-worthy scenes from CD-i Zelda. However, this naturally means that it fits right in with the revelry players have already shown for picking the strange licensed titles apart for easy ridicule. That being said, between the modeling, rigging, and animation, this is a masterfully made piece on its own, as is much of Hoolopee’s other work with Blender.
